I love talking about Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program - it's an amazing way for kids to learn a sport better, and with parents being involved. Listen to this episode that talks about their first pilot program that really took off!

Ruth N. Nelson. #BYOP #6 - BYOP® - Instructor and College CoachWhat do college coaches think about parent involvement at the early stages of play? Listen and find out in this episode of Ruth N. Nelson's BYOP profiles. BTW...college coaches are recruiting families as much as they are players - parents who know their role and get involved the right way are doing their kids a HUGE favor.
#7- 5X Olympian Danielle Scott on BYOP®I had a chance to talk at length with #Olympic #Volleyball player Danielle Scott-Arruda on #MakingThePlay; now here's a great chat with her on how Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program is hepling to grow young girls into strong women, and helping parents be a better part of that journey
#8 - BYOP® - AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeboerI learned a lot talking with Kathy DeBoer, Executive Director of the American #Volleyball #Coaches Association and renowned speaker on gender and competitive behavior. Take a listen and learn why programs aimed at youth players, done the RIGHT way (like #BYOP), do so much more than teach a sport.
#9 - BYOP® - Parent & VideographerGreat show with another #BYOP guest, seeing what the best youth sports programs look like from "behind the lense" of BYOP videographer (and player parent) Kelly Hisel.
#10 - BYOP® - Regional Commissioner Sandy Abbinanti
This Episode of Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP series discusses why this youth/Club sports model is so important for the proper development of sport - ANY sport. Welcome to the show, Great Lakes Director for USA Volleyball Sandy Abbinanti!
#volleyball #11 - BYOP® - Player Mentors Kayla & Jayden
#Youthsports is meant to develop our kids into better people - and here's a great example of what that looks like. Listen to 2 "#mentor" #coaches from Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program talk about how this program has put them on a path to become the #leaders we will need (ASAP!).
#12 - BYOP® - Coach, Player and Mentor Scout Wonsang
Today we just released a cool episode with Scout Wonsang, a former #volleyball player turned #coach, who sings the praises of starting off young athletes the right way in Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program. I think you'll like Scout's energy and seeing how coaching is a true labor of love for her.

#13 - BYOP® -– International Player Mary Kate Marshall
A program is special because of the type of people who support it. Meet former #BYOP player-mentor Mary-Kate Marshall, who has risen to the international level of play - we'll talk about the importance of training players lead other players. #volleyball #youthsports #mentor #sportparents #leaders #coaching #leadership #leadershipdevelopment Ruth N. Nelson
https://lnkd.in/deURWm4 #14 - BYOP® - College Coach Brian Gimmillaro
Here's really great conversation with a top coach in the nation, in any sport: Brian Gimmillaro. Coach G, regarded as one of the top volleyball minds in the country and is a Master Coach, will tell you why he thinks Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program is great for kids, parents and the Game.
#15 - BYOP® - Olympian Rose Magers-Powell
I had a great time talking with Rose Powell on this weks's show - check it out. Another Olympian who has taken what she learned from the Game, and Ruth N. Nelson, to show how sports can help our kids grow into the people we are so proud of - no medals or podiums required. ;-)
https://lnkd.in/e-WPygM #16 - BYOP® - Trainer - Parent Robert Selders, Jr.
When I spoke with Robert Selders, Jr. about how a trainer/fitness expert/coach got so involved with volleyball, and how it affected the way he works with others, he said: "Ruth N. Nelson"...Check out this show and get to know another one of the amazing people out there helping to turn student athletes into great people.
https://lnkd.in/dbMEG9C #17 - BYOP® - Amber ParentIn this episode, listen to how a change in the equipment and the approach of a coach can open up sport to a whole new range of players - not just at an earlier age, but in a way that prevents a physical disadvantage from being a barrier to sport and personal growth. That's a unique feature of Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program - inclusivity through custom equipment and decades of knowledge on how to teach.
https://lnkd.in/esTGJUw Amber Ifeanyichukwu #volleyball #sport #johnwooden #18 - BYOP® - Club Owner R.Ryder
We talk about #teaching our kids dedication through #sports - but what can WE #parents learn about dedication, from our kids' playing days? Check out this #BYOP episode and begin to answer that question, and see why being more than a driver/observer is worth the effort.
https://lnkd.in/dWC7geH Ruth N. Nelson #19 - BYOP® - High School Coach E. Miracle
I love talking to people who "get it" - the bigger picture of why we do what we do. And here's another one of those people that get "it" - why and how #coaching kids the right way matters. It's a short chat with Eric Miracle that could have gone on for hours probably. Check it out, and the rest of Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP library of podcasts on a better way to run #youthsports programs.
https://lnkd.in/eeRfnps #20 - BYOP® - Parent M. Marshall
A lot of parents want to stay active by being part of their kids' youth sports - which can be hard, especially when we don't play the sport our kids have chosen. In this episode of Ruth N. Nelson #BYOP series, we hear from a parent who benefited from the #BYOP model that involves parents from the beginning, giving parents a way to stay close to their kids but let the kids grow on their own. A tough balancing act, but that's one of the great features of the program.
https://lnkd.in/dTA8-qP #21 - BYOP® - Executive Director JVAVolleyball - Jenny Hahn
Here's an extended talk with Jenny Hahn, Exec Dir of the Junior Volleyball Association, as we get into the importance of developing players into people as the driver and let the wins take care of themselves. No surpirse, a meeting with Ruth N. Nelson put Jenny on her #vollyeball journey.

#22 Molly Alvey - Collegiate Coach
Confidence...we hear so many descriptions of what it is, or how to get it. Coach Molly Alvey with University of Cincinnati women's volleyball describes it as the result of being open-minded enough to simply move forward without trying to battle fear. And the sooner we start kids on that path through sports, like Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program, the better. Check our out chat on that - I think you'll really like it.
https://lnkd.in/dkiVU63 #23 Dana Campbell - Mentor BYOP® Volleyball
Think Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program is new? We'll, it's a new way of thinking for most, but it's been around for decades, which is why we know that it works. Today we've released a great discussion with Dana Campbell, father of two players/mentors who were part of the innaugural class 17 years ago. What I liked most about our chat was how he talked of his two now grown-up daughters and the women they have become as a result of sports done right.
https://lnkd.in/dzEkvwh #24 Penny / Verna Collegiate Coaches
This latest release of Ruth N. Nelson's #BYOP program is with two of her former players, Penny Lucas-White & Verna J., who made it to the professional level and now coach at the collegiate level. In our chat they marveled at what BYOP is doing for these young players - letting it feel like "play" for these 5-9 year-olds, but pushing players to more complex tasks than either of my guests felt they could have done at that age. Pretty amazing stuff. This is how to run youth sports - for any sport.
